How to Use SolarApp+

Licensed contractors can now use SolarApp+ to submit eligible residential solar PV projects online for express review and permit issuance.

Step 1: Create or Log in to an Existing Account

Step 2: Submit for Automated Review Through SolarApp+

  • Apply for a SolarAPP+ Instant Solar Permit in the portal. You will be asked to upload your submittal plans and documents.
  • Payments will be made through the SolarApp+ portal (payment will be processed through Stripe). Permit fees plus a processing fee from SolarApp+ will be charged.
  • Download the SolarApp+ approval documents.

Step 3: Apply for Permit

  • Email the Building & Safety Department with the following information at [email protected]:
  • Email Subject: SolarApp+ Approval - Project Address - Approval ID:[SAXXXXXXXX-X-X-X]
  • Email Body: Attach the SolarApp+ approval documents from Step 2 and include any additional information about your project.
  • Building & Safety will email you with a Permit Number and an inspection card. You will need this to schedule your inspection.
  • See the section below to review the additional documentation that will be required (city-issued business license, notarized agent authorization form, agent identification, license contractor declaration form).

SolarApp+ Revision

SolarApp+ revisions are handled exclusively through the SolarApp+ portal. For more information on how to handle revisions, click here.


ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION

NOTE:  All contractors doing work in the City of Lawndale must have a valid city-issued business license to do work in the city. Click the link below to access the Business License Portal.

For agents pulling permits on the contractor's behalf, a notarized letter of authorization and a copy of the agent's identification, such as a driver's license, are required.

Additionally, a Licensed Contractor Declaration Form must be completed and submitted to the Building & Safety Department (see the link below for the form).
