Note: Additional plan checks from LA County Building & Safety Electrical Division and/or LA County Fire Department may be required.
SolarApp+ Process
1. Log In to SolarApp+
2. Submit For Automated Review Through SolarApp+
- Upload your design to the portal
- Pay any permit, plan check, and processing fees
- Download the SolarApp+ Approval Documents
3. Apply For a Permit Through the City of Lawndale
- Visit the Permit Applications page to download the following documents:
- Building Permit application for Solar PV system
- Electrical Permit application if an ESS and/or panel upgrade is included
- Licensed Contractor Declaration form
- Provide the City with the Approval Documents
- Obtain a city-issued business license online through CitizenServe
- Provide a copy the following items
- Issued Contractor License
- Valid driver's license/ID
- Authorized agents must provide a notarized letter of authorization on company letterhead
- Authorized agents must provide a valid copy of their driver's license/ID
4. Request an Inspection
- To request an inspection with the City of Lawndale, visit the Inspections page or call (310) 973-3237.
- If an inspection is required from the LA County Fire Department call 310-263-2732.
SolarApp+ Revisions
- Submit your revised plans through the SolarApp+ portal
- Download the revised SolarApp+ Approval Documents
- Follow Steps 3 and 4 with the revised SolarApp+ Approval Documents
- Additional fees may be charged for multiple revisions
